Services

Northwest Equine Services provides a number of services including preventative health care, minor surgery, reproductive, medical diagnostics, dentistry, lameness and prepurchase exams.

Preventive Health Care

At Northwest Equine Services, we strive to stay informed on emerging diseases and developing parasite resistance so that we can recommend the most effective preventative health care program for your horse. We can design a vaccination and deworming program that is appropriate and effective to keep your horse healthy.

Surgery

Dr Turchi performs routine minor surgical procedures including normal and cryptorchid castrations, hernia repair, tenotomies, eye removal and other soft tissue procedures. Dr Turchi maintains relationships with several board certified equine surgeons who are available to accept referral of emergency and specialized surgical procedures.

Diagnostics

Northwest Equine Services has invested in pertinent technology to aid our assessment and diagnosis of your horse. We have in-house laboratory equipment to allow timely diagnosis and monitoring of a variety of medical conditions. Our diagnostic imaging capabilities include digital radiology, digital ultrasound and video endoscopy.

Dentistry

Dr Turchi recommends a thorough dental exam annually to detect and correct any problems that could interfere with eating, comfort, or performance. From young to senior, we provide full dental care for all life stages. Our dental services include routine floating with power equipment, dental radiography and surgical extractions. Dr. Turchi uses a combination of injectable sedatives, pain medications and nerve blocks to make all dental procedures as comfortable as possible.

Reproductive Services

Northwest Equine Services offers a wide range of reproductive services including artificial insemination, ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis, foal delivery and new born examinations. We understand the time and financial investments involve with raising a foal and we want to protect your investment with proactive management of your broodmares.

Lameness and Prepurchase Exams 

Dr Turchi uses his 30 years of experience along with a thorough examination and diagnostic procedures to accurately diagnosis and treat lameness. Digital radiology and ultrasound are available for lameness diagnosis. Difficult lameness cases can be referred for MRI imaging. Dr. Turchi will offer available treatment options and work with you to decide the best option for your horse. Dr. Turchi takes pride in offering thorough prepurchase examinations which include a review of previous medical history, a thorough physical examination and diagnostic imaging to aid in your purchase decisions.

Emergency Service Policy


Emergency service will now be limited to clinic haul-in. It is important for clients to develop a plan for emergencies, including access to hauling. Haul-in patients can be seen faster in an emergency, will have immediate access to all of the clinics on-site resources, and can be monitored overnight if required. Treating patients in the clinic where good lighting, equipment, and assistance is available is also safer.


After hours emergency calls will be evaluated via telemedicine triage to determine whether they require immediate attention or can wait until the next day.


Priority for emergency services will be given to current clients seen within the last 12 months. Cases requiring intense medical management or emergency surgery will be referred to one of several regional hospitals.

-large indoor exam area with 2 stocks
-surgery/recovery room 
-7 indoor stalls
-2 stalls with IV fluid delivery setup and internet cameras to monitor critical cases
-8 outdoor paddocks
